The Deco Story is a home-grown brand inspired by the quiet beauty of everyday life. We create timeless yet fresh stationery and lifestyle pieces using the finest materials, crafted in close collaboration with skilled local makers.

Guided by a love for design and illustration, we obsess over every detail. Each piece is inspected by hand, thoughtfully wrapped, and shipped straight from our studio with care. Our customers mean the world to us, and we hope every order feels like the beginning of a lasting friendship one that grows with each exchange of ideas and feedback.

Meet our Founder

From childhood, Shanya loved a sketchbook or anything she could turn into art. That early passion led her to NIFT, where she trained as a textile designer and later worked full-time in the industry. After several 9-to-5 roles, she chose freelancing as her full time path, and her distinctive prints and lively illustration soon found homes with brands such as TJ Maxx, Walmart, Trader Joe’s, and even Paris Fashion Week.

In December 2024, Shanya launched The Deco Story, a natural extension of her love for illustration, slow living, and self-expression. She continues to freelance internationally while nurturing her own brand, bringing her artful approach to every product.

 

 

Our process

DOCUMENTING IDEAS

Every collection begins with quiet observation and a spark of inspiration. From brainstorm to gather references, and build mood boards before moving into sketching.

HAND PAINTED & MORE

It all starts with a painting. We use multiple medias like opaque watercolor, to create the artwork that can be found on every product. Sketchbook with loose ideas as colors and concepts unfold. We play with palettes, exploring combinations that capture mood and emotion, until each design feels just right.

BRINGING IDEAS TO LIFE

Once the designs are ready, we collaborate with trusted printers and local manufacturers known for their craftsmanship. Their skill ensures our vibrant colors and intricate details translate beautifully onto every product.

When the finished pieces return to our studio, we examine each one by hand. Only after passing this inspection are they thoughtfully wrapped and prepared for their journey to you.
